Community Overcomes Crisis, Saves Historic Celebration

Mendota's classic celebration is on again, after staring down extinction.

According to the Star Tribune, Mendota Days was in danger of becoming a relic of history after long-time funders in Mendota's business community backed out following last year's festival. The cost of staging the event, they told the Star Tribune earlier this year, became too much to bear, leaving its future in limbo.

Community members and Mendota officials stepped up to the plate, however, and a slimmed-down version of the historic party is set to kick off on July 13. A full schedule of events is available on the City of Mendota's website.
