Powerball Jackpot Reaches an Estimated $500 Million

The jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing is estimated at $500 million, a record-breaking figure for the multi-state lottery game. According to CNN.com, the previous Powerball record was $365 million, which was split among eight workers at a Nebraska meatpacking facility in 2006. While there is no question $500 million is a pile of money, it isn’t a record for U.S. lottery games. That title goes to the Mega Millions jackpot of $656 million that was split among three players in March, says CNN.
