VISTA's 'Beauty and the Beast' Opens Friday

The Visitation and St. Thomas Academy middle school cast says, "Be our guest" with this Disney production.

Prepare for an evening of Disney magic, courtesy of the Convent of the Visitation School and Saint Thomas Academy.   The two middle schools teamed up to produce the modern classic musical "Beauty and the Beast," which premieres this Friday at Visitation's DeSales Auditorium. The show will include performances at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and will close with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Henry Sibley High School sophomores Emma Alley and Laura Dill's play, "An Autumn Night," is told in flashbacks and untangles the life of a dead high school student. The play is one of four one-act, student-produced plays showing at the Henry Sibley Auditorium at 7:20 p.m. on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20 and at 2 p.m. on Jan. 21. Henry Sibley High School senior Celia Knieff's play, "Driving Fred Willard," is about a girl who volunteers to help a surly, sexist senior citizen. The play is one of four one-act, student-produced plays showing at the Henry Sibley Auditorium at 7:20 p.m. on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20 and at 2 p.m. on Jan. 21. (VIDEO) Henry Sibley Theater: 'Robots and Metaphors'

Four one-act, student-produced plays will be shown Jan. 19-21 at Henry Sibley High School.

Henry Sibley High School seniors Michael Freund and Chance Brost's play, "Robots and Metaphors," is like a futuristic, high school version of the 1996 Michael Keaton vehicle "Multiplicity." A male student makes robot clones of himself with different personalities in order to "pick up chicks and become popular." The play is one of four one-act, student-produced plays showing at the Henry Sibley Auditorium at 7:20 p.m. on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20 and at 2 p.m. on Jan. 21. 'Leaving Iowa' Pulls Over at Henry Sibley this Weekend

Henry Sibley High School cast and crew to perform comedy Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday matinee.

The Henry Sibley High School fall play opens with a family of four asleep at the wheel and continues down an often bumpy road trip for the rest of its run. “Leaving Iowa,” is a comedy about family relationships, life and death, and the journey in between. The play will be performed Thursday, Nov. 3 and Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. in the Henry Sibley High School Auditorium. The play stars Connor O’Leary as Don, Megan Rogers as Sis, Celia Knieff as Mom and Jack Schuleman as Dad. “It’s funny,” said Sabrina Epou, who plays a dual role of Mrs. Johnson and a clerk. “It’s a comedic play, and a lot of people can relate to it because it’s about family and a lot of experiences that family go through.” The …

Saw the show tonight and it was GREAT! I can't believe more schools haven't put on this play before, it's really relatable--and funny. It's staging is fairly simple so the acting really has to carry it, and the students came through. Nice show.   more ›

Visitation School in Mendota Heights Presents 'Alice in Wacky Wonderland'

Full Circle Dance Company puts a fresh spin on the classic tale.

The large theater is dark, the stage lit, the room full of giddy energy as The Full Circle Dance Company at Convent of the Visitation School prepares for their latest production, “Alice in Wacky Wonderland.” Activity is taking place everywhere as students cut bright fabric, review scripts and stage cues, set up lights, and tweak soundboards.  “Alice in Wacky Wonderland” will have roughly 17-20 different dance numbers—with styles ranging from hip-hop to classical—taking threads from the classic tale. Expect tea parties, the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledee, Tweedledum and more.
