Snow Day: Mendota Heights Residents Share Pictures, Stories Online

With the largest storm in two years hitting Mendota Heights, students speculated on the likelihood of a school cancellation, children planned sledding expeditions and a local photographer offered to take snow pictures.

The Twin Cities is currently in the grips of the biggest snow storm in two years, and some places, the National Weather Services says, could get more than 15 inches of snow before it's all said and done. Mendota Heights Under Winter Weather Advisory

Residents will wake up to 2-4 inches, according to forecasts.

A winter storm is expected to nick the Mendota Heights area Saturday afternoon and evening.  Forecasters predict 2-4 inches of snow could start to fall anytime after 3 p.m., according to data from the U.S. National Weather Service, with the majority falling tonight. The Twin Cities in under a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Sunday. The snowfall may coincide with the festivities at The Village of Mendota Heights, where events surrounding a tree-lighting are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. While that may set a pretty backdrop for the seasonal merriment, central Dakota County and southern Minnesota could also be hit with unfavorable driving conditions for those visiting from nearby cities.  Expect snow-covered roads and limited visibility. …
