Minnesota Second Congressional District Rep. John Kline (R) has "a proven record of defending the Second Amendment," according to the National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund.
Editor's Note: The following is a press release from the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing John Kline for U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District. “John Kline has a proven record of defending the Second Amendment,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “Because of his strong support of our rights, Kline has earned an “A” rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.” While serving in Congress, John Kline joined the historic briefs filed before the U.S. Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Minnesota's Second Congressional District race is among the 36 "most competitive" this year, according to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Mike Obermueller's already high-profile campaign against Rep. John Kline (R) got another bump Monday, courtesy of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Earlier in May, the DCCC added Obermueller to its Red to Blue Emerging Races program, but the committee announced this week that Obermueller has now earned a spot on the top tier of the committee's Red to Blue list. The promotion puts Obermueller among a group of 36 Congressional races nationwide that are considered to be the "most competitive." Obermueller is currently the only Minnesota candidate to have earned designation, according to a press release issued by his campaign on Monday. The DCCC's Red to Blue program pledges increased financial, strategic and communications …

Second Congressional District Democratic candidate Mike Obermueller will receive support from the Red to Blue Emerging Races program in his campaign against Rep. John Kline.
Eagan resident and Second Congressional District candidate Mike Obermueller has caught the attention of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. DCCC Executive Director Robby Mook announced in a conference call Thursday morning that the committee has added Minnesota's Second Congressional District, currently represented by Rep. John Kline (R) to its Red to Blue Emerging Races program. Mendota Heights now falls into the Second Congressional District represented by Kline following redistricting. The Emerging Races program highlights "top Democratic campaigns" across the country. Campaigns are chosen, in part, by looking at the viability, resources and organization of the candidate, Mook said in the conference call. The program …

Ahead of the fourth ballot, Northfield's Patrick Ganey conceded to Eagan's Mike Obermueller for the DFL endorsement for Minnesota's Second Congressional District. Obermueller will face Lakeville's John Kline, a five-term Republican incumbent.
And then there was one. Eagan's Mike Obermueller, a former state representative, was endorsed as the Second Congressional District's DFL candidate on Saturday at Rosemount High School after Northfield's Patrick Ganey conceded before the fourth ballot. Obermueller, who then received unanimous support, will face Republican John Kline, a five-term incumbent from Lakeville. Kathleen Gaylord, Dakota County commissioner and former mayor of South St. Paul, conceded earlier in the contest. For a full recap of the event, read our live blog above. _________ Second Congressional District DFLers gather at Rosemount High School today to select their nominee to challenge Republican incumbent John Kline in the November elections. Second Congressional District DFLers will gather at the Rosemount High School on Saturday to select their nominee to challenge Republican incumbent John Kline in the November elections.
Second Congressional District DFLers will gather at the Rosemount High School on Saturday to select their nominee to challenge Republican incumbent John Kline in the November elections. Kline received the unanimous endorsement from Republicans at the GOP convention at Shakopee Junior High School last week. But thanks to February's court-panel redistricting of Minnesota, Kline faces a tougher road in a second district that now includes DFL-leaning portions of northern Dakota County, as well as southern Washington County, and doesn't include Republican strongholds such as Carver County. Candidates for this Saturday's DFL endorsement include Kathleen Gaylord, a Dakota County commissioner and former mayor of South St. Paul; Mike Obermueller of…

The Mendota Heights area's new congressional district is choosing who will oppose incumbent.
With less than a week until DFL Second Congressional delegates choose their candidate to run against Rep. John Kline (R-Lakeville), the three hopefuls came together for a candidate forum this past weekend. Seeking Saturday's endorsement are Northfield City Council Patrick Ganey, Dakota County Commissioner Kathleen Gaylord and former state representative Mike Obermueller. Mendota Heights, formerly a part of the fourth Congressional District, now falls into the Second Congressional District after redistricting. The UpTake spoke with the three candidates before the forum. All three videos are attached to this post. Ganey, a development officer at Carleton College, said one of his priorities is to make education available for every American…

Currently in her third term as Dakota County commissioner, Gaylord served for 10 years as mayor of South St. Paul.
A third DFLer has entered the Second Congressional District race in hopes to unseat Republican Rep. John Kline. Mendota Heights is part of the Second Congressional District following redistricting. Dakota County Commissioner and former South St. Paul Mayor Kathleen Gaylord on Thursday filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission declaring her intention to run. Gaylord represents South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Sunfish Lake, and a portion of Inver Grove Heights on the county board. Gaylord joins former Eagan State Rep. Mike Obermueller and Northfield City Councilor Patrick Ganey as candidates seeking the DFL endorsement to run against Kline, a five-term incumbent. A DFL endorsement is expected April 28. "It’s time for new …

Former State Rep. Mike Obermueller has officially declared his intent to seek the DFL nomination for the Second Congressional District. He joins Northfielder Patrick Ganey in the endorsement race.
It's getting crowded. The Star Tribune is reporting that former State Rep. Mike Obermueller of Eagan has officially declared his intent to seek the DFL nomination for the Second Congressional District, which now includes the Mendota Heights area. Obermueller, an attorney, joins Northfield City Councilor Patrick Ganey, who announced his bid for his party's support in late March. Both are eyeing the seat of five-term Republican incumbent John Kline (R-Lakeville). Last month when Obermueller was "seriously" considering a run, he told The UpTake that he wanted to put real representation back into Washington, D.C. "We basically lost a decade of prosperity and progress in this district," he said. The Star Tribune is also reporting that Dakota …
