Highway 3 Repairs Will Mean Lane Closures this Summer

A MnDOT project will cause road closures this summer on Highway 3 between Ann Marie Trail and Mendota Road.

A Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) project will mean lane closures throughout the summer on Highway 3 between Ann Marie Trail and Mendota Road. The project will make road repairs, improve drainage and update pedestrian crossings to meet modern accessibility standards. It's expected to cost $2.9 million. "A significant portion of this work will affect traffic and is likely to result in temporary lane closures as work is completed within the segments of roadway," MnDOT wrote on its website. A work zone speed limit of 40 mph will be enforced. The lane closures are part of a larger summer project to resurface that segment of Highway 110 and repair the bridge and ramps as needed. In addition to the new road surface, the project is also expected to reduce drainage problems and improve the guardrail system. MnDOT: Continued I-35E Lane Closures This Week in Mendota Heights, Lilydale

A rough Monday rush hour caused by rain and drying paint.

Northbound Interstate 35E through Mendota Heights and Lilydale did not open fully for rush hour Monday morning because of the rainy weekend, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. “After fighting weather for a large part of the weekend, we had to keep sections of northbound I-35E reduced to a single lane into Monday morning's rush hour,” said engineer Sheila Kauppi in a statement released Monday. Pavement markings still needed to dry before traffic could be allowed back in the lanes. “Opening lanes before the paint cured sufficiently would have caused spray damage to vehicles and affected safety,” said Kauppi.  MnDOT is repaving approximately 5.25 miles of Interstate 35E. The project is scheduled to be completed in …
