Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge Open House Scheduled for Dec. 6

In late January or early February, no vehicle combinations of more than 35 feet in length will be allowed to use the Lafayette Bridge until the crossover is removed next November.

Hwy 52 Lafayette Bridge Closures Scheduled for Nov. 12-16

The closures will begin daily at 8 p.m. and reopen every morning by 5 a.m.

Editor's note: The following is an announcement from MnDOT.  Motorists traveling the northbound Hwy 52 Lafayette Bridge will encounter overnight detours as the bridge closes between Concord Street and East 7th Street from Nov. 12-15. The closures will begin daily at 8 p.m. and reopen every morning by 5 a.m. from Nov. 13-16. In addition, southbound Hwy 52 will close between eastbound and westbound West 7th Street from Nov. 12-15. All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. every morning.   Access to southbound Hwy 52 will remain available from westbound I-94, southbound I-35E and eastbound I-94. The closures are needed as crews remove permanent barrier and replace it with temporary barrier in order to build a bypass. Motorists are encouraged…

Lafayette Bridge Closure Could Mean Huge Delays Over the Next Two Weekends

Inspection of the northbound bridge will happen Sept. 15 with inspections of the southbound bridge following on Sept. 22.

According to a release from the Minnesota Department of Transportation, motorists should expect delays during the next two weekends while MnDOT performs an annual in-depth inspection of the Hwy 52 Lafayette Bridge. The inspection is scheduled for Sept. 15 and Sept. 22. Inspection will begin on the northbound bridge on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 a.m. and will continue until completed at 8 p.m. that day. During the inspection, northbound Hwy 52 will be closed between Hwy 156 (Concord Street) and West 7th Street in St. Paul. Lafayette Bridge Openings Announced

Commuters will find more ramps and lanes open starting next week.

Good news for Lafayette Bridge commuters: Several closures related to the bridge and Highway 52 construction project will be opening next week, weather permitting.  Tuesday, July 17 The left lane of westbound Interstate 94 between Mounds Boulevard and Highway 52, as well as the ramp from Mounds Boulevard to westbound Interstate 94 will be re-opening. Friday, July 20 All lanes of northbound Highway 52 between Butler Avenue and Interstate 94 are scheduled to re-open, including the ramp from Concord Boulevard to northbound Highway 52. Ramps Closing Overnight from NB Hwy 52 to WB I-94

Wednesday and Thursday night lane closures will be open again by 5 a.m.

Ramps from northbound Highway 52 to westbound Interstate 94 and the ramp from East 7th Street to westbound Interstate 94 are scheduled to close at 7 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday this week. Minnesota Department of Transportation crews are building the west half of the new loop from northbound Highway 52 to westbound I-94. To get onto westbound I-94, traffic will be detoured east on 7th Street to the Mounds Boulevard onramp. Both ramps are scheduled to reopen for morning traffic by 5 a.m. Learn more about the project on the Lafayette Bridge website.

Northbound Highway 52 Closes for Weekend

MnDOT has announced detours to get to downtown and Interstate 94.

 Drivers should plan ahead for this weekend when the Minnesota Department of Transportation is scheduled to close northbound Highway 52 from Concord to Interstate 94. Northbound 52, and all ramps leading to it, will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, April 16. Southbound Highway 52 isn't affected and will remain open. MnDOT is prepping the lanes for resurfacing, and replacing bearings on the Eaton Street Bridge. All work is weather-dependent. MnDOT: NB Hwy 52 Traffic Switches Next Week South of Lafayette Bridge

Highway 52 will be restored back to two lanes each direction for winter.

Northbound Highway 52 and the left lane of southbound Highway 52 will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 between Concord Street and Interstate 94, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.  Crews will be switching northbound traffic from the southbound side of the roadway back onto the northbound lanes of Highway 52. During the closures, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid congestion. Northbound Highway 52 was shifted to a single lane of traffic this year for reconstruction of the northbound Plato Boulevard and Eaton Street bridges and resurfacing of the northbound Concord Street bridge.
