Henry Sibley High School's Media Center 'Kindles' Reading Fever
Devices spark student interest by combining reading with new technology.
Aricela Gallegos likes reading. She's among the early adapters of a new tech wave at Henry Sibley High School, which offers books on Kindle e-readers. "I think in a way it makes reading more fun or even cooler!" said Gallegos, a 17-year-old senior. "After showing some of my friends, they checked them out too. Kindles are contagious!" The school's Instructional Media Center (IMC) and its young patrons are fueling the fire for reading after the recent acquisition of two, then 10 and soon to be 20 Kindles. Kindles are the highest-selling model of e-readers on the market. The 7-inch x 5-inch hand-held device displays text on its screen like a book.
