All interested parties are invited to attend an open house to learn more about a traffic crossover MnDOT is building from the existing Lafayette Bridge to the new northbound bridge. Editor's note: The following is an announcement from MnDOT. Motorists traveling the northbound Hwy 52 Lafayette Bridge will encounter overnight detours as the bridge closes between Concord Street and East 7th Street from Nov. 12-15. The closures will begin daily at 8 p.m. and reopen every morning by 5 a.m. from Nov. 13-16. In addition, southbound Hwy 52 will close between eastbound and westbound West 7th Street from Nov. 12-15. All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. every morning. Access to southbound Hwy 52 will remain available from westbound I-94, southbound I-35E and eastbound I-94. Starting 5 a.m. on Sept. 17 the ramp from northbound Highway 52 to eastbound I-94 in St. Paul will be closed.
Starting 5 a.m. on Sept. 17 the ramp from northbound Highway 52 to eastbound I-94 in St. Paul will be closed for work on the Lafayette Bridge Project. From the press release: Motorists may encounter delays as the ramp from northbound Hwy 52 to eastbound I-94 in St. Paul closes at 5 a.m. Sept. 17 through Oct. 8. The ramp closure is necessary as crews reconstruct it. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour during the closure. The ramp will reopen on Oct. 8. The closures have been rescheduled for May 29 and May 30.
Ramps from northbound Highway 52 to westbound Interstate 94 and the ramp from East 7th Street to westbound Interstate 94 will not close at 7 p.m. on May 23 and May 24, as Patch previously reported. According to a news release from the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the closures have been canceled due to forecasted inclement weather. The closures have been rescheduled for May 29 and May 30 and will take place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights.

MnDOT has announced detours to get to downtown and Interstate 94.
Drivers should plan ahead for this weekend when the Minnesota Department of Transportation is scheduled to close northbound Highway 52 from Concord to Interstate 94. Northbound 52, and all ramps leading to it, will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, April 16. Southbound Highway 52 isn't affected and will remain open. MnDOT is prepping the lanes for resurfacing, and replacing bearings on the Eaton Street Bridge. All work is weather-dependent.
