Dakota County Health Officials Offering Whooping Cough, Flu Vaccinations

Editor's Note: The following is a press release from Dakota County. Pertussis (“whooping cough”) remains a concern, with more than 260 cases reported in Dakota County this year. Pertussis can affect anyone, but it can be much more serious in infants. Pertussis is spread through the air by coughing. It is important that people of all ages be up to date on their pertussis vaccinations. Infants should begin the series of 5 DTaP vaccinations at 2 months of age, receiving. Children should have had 5 five doses of DTaP before starting kindergarten. At 10 years of age a child should receive a A Tdap booster. is recommended at 10 years of age.
