Council to Mull Hunter, Orchard Street Improvement Project Bids

The Hunter and Orchard neighborhood street improvement project bids are in. There are four of them and they range from $1.44 million to $1.63 million.

SB I-35E Ramps to Hwy 110 Closing for Repair

Ramp to westbound Highway 110 in Mendota Heights will close Friday.

The ramp from southbound Interstate 35E to westbound Highway 110 is scheduled to close Friday morning, and both west and east ramps from southbound I-35E to Highway 110 will be closed from Sunday until May 17. The closures are needed for road surface rehabilitation, according to MnDOT. Detours will be posted. The work is part of a project on Highway 110 from Lexington Avenue to the frontage road east of the interchange. I'll have to deal with 52 to get pretty much anywhere in the south half of the city. And while I like that crazy "tip" they built into 52 right after the bridge, I'm not excited to deal with one lane traffic all the time.   more ›

Lane Closures Begin on Hwy. 13 in Mendota Heights

This round of closures around Highway 55 and Highway 110 is scheduled to run through May 18.

Lane closures on Highway 13 in the Mendota Heights area will begin Monday, May 7, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Areas near the intersections of Highway 13 and Highway 110, as well as Highway 13 and Highway 55, are scheduled to close intermittently between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Other closures on Highway 13 in Mendota Heights can be expected between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. This round of work, scheduled through May 18, will upgrade the intersections to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and complete some minor repair work to the concrete and drainage systems. It’s all part of an $11.5 million project to reconstruct 12 miles of Highway 13 from Burnsville in the south to Annapolis in the north.  …

Northbound Highway 52 Closes for Weekend

MnDOT has announced detours to get to downtown and Interstate 94.

 Drivers should plan ahead for this weekend when the Minnesota Department of Transportation is scheduled to close northbound Highway 52 from Concord to Interstate 94. Northbound 52, and all ramps leading to it, will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, April 16. Southbound Highway 52 isn't affected and will remain open. MnDOT is prepping the lanes for resurfacing, and replacing bearings on the Eaton Street Bridge. All work is weather-dependent. MnDOT Updates Map for Highway 13 Construction in Mendota Area

The only portion of Highway 13 excluded from this summer's reconstruction is in Lilydale south of Interstate 35E.

The story "Highway 13 Construction Set to Begin in May for Mendota Heights Area," has been updated to reflect a corrected map from The Minnesota Department of Transportation. Highway 13 will be reconstructed from Interstate 35W in Burnsville north to West Annapolis in West St. Paul. The only exception will be the area of roadway north of Mendota and South of Interstate 35E, which is tentatively scheduled for completion by 2015.  A previous map showed the area of roadway between Interstate 494 and Highway 110 to also be excluded.  The project is scheduled to begin May 7.  Residents can sign up for e-mail updates with info on closures and detour routes, or check Mendota Heights Patch for regular news on this project and other construction in…

Work on Highway 13 from West St. Paul to Burnsville is expected to run through August.

Overnight I-35E Lane Reduction Planned in Lilydale Area for Jan. 17

Expect delays in both directions late Tuesday night.

Late-night travelers in the Lilydale/Mendota Heights area take note: Lane reductions and brief closures are planned in both directions of Interstate 35E Tuesday, Jan. 17 starting at 11:50 p.m. Minnesota Department of Transportation crews will be installing overhead cables, which will require about 15 minutes of road closure. All lanes are scheduled to be open by 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Minute with the Mayor: Mendota Heights Infrastructure Gets a Hard Look in 2012

Mendota Heights Patch sits down with the mayors of Mendota Heights, Mendota and Lilydale for regular city updates—all in about a minute.

Mendota Heights Mayor Sandra Krebsbach discusses one of the cities goals for 2012—developing a plan to update the city's aging infrastructure. From streets, to sewers and ponds, the city will be evaluating what needs to be done. A 2012-2016 sanitary sewer improvement and maintenance plan was presented to the council Jan. 3, and will be reviewed in upcoming weeks.  Any project would be brought forward and evaluated individually before approval.
