This is such a great restaurant. Perfect for a quiet romantic excellent meal with wine or beer, and also very nice for family dinners (with wine or beer). Highly recommended.

This has become my favorite local restaurant. Wonderful, fresh food with Viennese flair and an excellent, eclectic selection of wines and beers, including Austrian wines and beer. The atmosphere is contemporary and cozy, and Chef Ulrich is a hands-on chef and host.
Mendoberri is a Mendota Heights treasure. Robert Ulrich, a gourmet chef from Vienna, brings a unique offering that all must sample. He prepares the best schnitzel we have tasted since we lived in Germany. We recommend the salads which are all prepared with care and have an excellent presentation. Our favorite "mains" are the chicken schnitzel, New York strip and crab cakes. After Robert builds a solid customer base, I hope he adds even more European "mains" and sides. Bravo
We were here on Friday evening. The place was full and we had a great time. I understand why it was full. I can't say enough positive things about the food. I had the salmon special and it had a maple sauce that was heavenly. Samantha was our server and she was great. We ran into friends of ours and couldn't decide on a bottle of wine to share and the manager Hope who had been talking to another table, came right over and suggested one and brought us a sample first and we loved it. Then the chef came out and talked to us. I felt like we got the red carpet treatment, and I imagine most everyone that dines here will. We will be back for more.
We tried this place shortly after it opened and were pleasantly surprised. My guest had the crab cakes and I had the chicken schnitzel recommended by the staff. Very good and nice portions. I also enjoyed the beets, very fresh.

Chef and owner Robert Ulrich (native of Vienna) has made this restaurant our family favorite. We lived in Germany for 4 years and pined for GOOD Schnitzel since our return. Well, Chef Ulrich prepares Schnitzel as we remember in Germany and Austria. Entrees are all excellent and presented with such a professional and colorful air. Music often complements our meals on weekend evenings. Mendoberri has become our "family haunt" since it opened in 2010.
