Benefit For Bogey's Bartender, Mendota Heights Resident Set for Sunday

Tom Kreager is recovering from triple bypass surgery.

When bartender Tom Kreager had a heart attack May 28 at work, two patrons saved his life by performing CPR until medics could arrive.

“TK,” age 59, is now recovering after a triple bypass surgery at Regions.

The attack came just three weeks after his partner of 30 years, Lori Brown, also experienced a heart attack and underwent the same surgery.

Days before TK returned home, 80 mph straight-line winds knocked a tree on top of his van.

As Bogey’s owner Mike Brennan told the Lilydale City Council, “When it rains, it pours.”

Now, Bogey’s patrons and the community are coming to TK’s aid once again with a benefit scheduled for 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 22 in the Bogey’s parking lot.

TK is a Sibley graduate and Mendota Heights resident, and remains close with old friends as well as his patrons.

“He has a nice little following. People know him from everywhere,” said Brennan.

Planners are expecting a good turnout, in part because they know that TK has shown so much support for others throughout the years.

“Tom is the type of person that everybody likes to talk to. He has a great sense of humor, and when people are having a hard time it seems like Tom will definitely listen to them,” said longtime friend Al Graf. “He makes them feel better about themselves, what’s going on—he gives himself to everybody, not just his friends. Everybody’s had tough times and has been down, and Tom is the guy people go to to make them feel better.”

Tickets are $10. A full bar, food and the High and Mighty Band will keep everyone in good spirits. Guest can also bid on items in the silent auction. Parking will be available in the Stonebridge parking lot and police will be on hand to aid with traffic.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the cause or volunteer should stop by Bogey’s for more information.
