25th Anniversary: Mendota Heights Parks Celebration

A weekend of activities June 1-3 will showcase a sampling of what the city has to offer.

The Mendota Heights Parks Celebration is marking 25 years as a community festival, and the whole weekend is stocked with events to showcase the city for the occasion. 

Free Music, Night Golf

Catch some free music at  on Friday, where the Fu-Ga-We Tribe is scheduled to play a family-friendly set from 6:30-9 p.m.

Also in the mix Friday is night golf at the . Receive a glow necklace and play with a glowing golf ball and hole markers. "If you've never done it before, it's a truly unique experience," said Jake Sedlacek, assistant to the city administrator. Pre-register online ($15) for the 8:20 p.m. shotgun start.

Athletes from around the region will be at for the Mendota Heights Athletic Association Invitational Baseball Tournament.

Mendota Heights 5K, Parks Celebration

Walkers, joggers and runners can register ($20) for the on Saturday morning at . Download the attached pdf and drop it off at City Hall. Proceeds benefit the Special Olympics. The race begins at 9 a.m., so arrive early if you still need to register ($25 day of race). A raffle following the race full of donated goodies and prizes from local businesses is worth sticking around for.  

The main event is all about the kids, but kids-at-heart will also love the activities at Mendakota Park's Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A petting zoo, concessions, games and information on staying active will be there to keep everyone entertained. MHPD Anniversary, Pilot Knob Tours, Diamond Dedication

A cornerstone of the community, the , is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer. From 12-4 p.m. on Sunday visitors can tour the police department and learn more about what they do. Visitors are encouraged to park in the lot if possible. 

Have you heard about , but have never been? Stop by at 1 p.m. on Sunday for a guided tour, an amazing view and some fresh air.

The capstone of the weekend will be the dedication of Mertensotto Field, adjacent to City Hall. Formerly called the , the diamond will be renamed in honor of former .
