Do You Care About the Royal Baby?

Find out how Mendota Heights residents responded when we asked them that question.

Media from around the world has been gathered outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London for days. On Monday morning, news broke: The Princess of Cambridge was in "the early stages of labor."

We took to Facebook to ask Mendota Heights Patch readers this question: "How do you feel about the royal baby? Are you excited or do you want it to stop?"

The answers to the question turned into a discussion about the British monarchy and the Vatican. Huh, you say? Read on:

Ashley Schnider: Give them some privacy already.

Bobby Morrell: Who cares.

Denise Short: Well you can't stop child birth!. It's a natural occurrence lol however on the point of hearing to much about it in the media. Well it a joyous occasion for anyone becoming a parent. I don't think Harry and his wife are any different. Because they are members of the royal family they will of course be in the publics eye with and this leads some to think "oh we can't wait until the birth" and others to be just plain bored with it. My honest opinion is let them enjoy this special time and if they want the world to share it with them then who are any of us to complain. It's their choice. Good luck to them.

Alberta Cairns: I'm excited.....

Bobby Morrell: I agree let them enjoy this special time... but get a real job and pay for the birth not on the people's taxes.

Stacy Martin Kronschnabel: Excited

Denise Short: They don't wanted privacy Ashley. If they did they wouldn't have announced early labour. Thousands of people are truely interested in this birth. Why shouldn't they be? Look at the coverage Michael Jackson and Madonna got when they adopted? It's all part of our worlds media. We thrive on it. As personally speaking its nice to hear some positive news rather than all the depressed stuff we normally hear.

Denise Short: Such is the state we live in Bobby. And as we all know, thanks to the like of me and you that wee one will want for nothing!.

Alberta Cairns: You are right bobby but you are not paying the taxes.....don't start me about the taxes i pay...

Bobby Morrell: But I use too and that is wrong.

Alberta Cairns: Bobby you and I don't go there eh?

Denise Short: Ano Bobby your in the states aren't you? Lol

Bobby Morrell: I just don't believe in freebie's for the rich.

Bobby Morrell: And that applies to Americans as well.

Denise Short: Guess your right Bobby. But it's been this way forever. Who's gonna change it?

Bobby Morrell: This is from Wikipedia......Under the Civil List, The Queen received £7,900,000 a year from public funds to support the exercise of her duties as head of state of the United Kingdom. The Civil List ceased on 31 March 2012, and was replaced by the Sovereign Grant.

Bobby Morrell: Forbes magazine estimated the Queen's net worth at around US$450 million in 2010

Alberta Cairns: Ur pissing me off bobby, you live in America..,,..

Bobby Morrell: And you live in Thailand.

Alberta Cairns: Paying uk taxes

Bobby Morrell: No matter what you say Alberta your not going to change my views on this, I just don't believe in freebie's for the rich.

Alberta Cairns: We won't talk about the Vatican then.... I'm going to bed now xo

Bobby Morrell: As far as I'm concerned the Vatican is another sponger.

Bobby Morrell: I love ya Alberta but we agree to disagree.xx

Nick Goers: Better things to report about right here in our own country!

Denise Short: It is nice to know I've bought the child something for its birth without having to go shopping (hehe)

Bobby Morrell: I will be in London in September I will contribute then.
