'Bookawocky' Summer Reading Fun Starts June 11

The Dakota County Library system has summer reading programs for kids and teens.

Kids and teens can have fun reading this summer through ‘Bookawocky’ and the Teen Summer Reading Program at a Dakota County Library.

The "celebration of summer reading" kicks off June 11 and runs through Aug. 18. Sign-up at any Dakota County Library including:

  • , 8098 Blaine Ave., Inver Grove Heights
  • Wentworth Library, 199 Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul
  • , 1340 Wescott Road, Eagan

Kids age 12 and younger can sign up for Bookawocky, and will get a record to keep track of the time they read or are read to. Once the hours add up, they can earn small prizes. They can also do activities for a chance to win a Nook Color eReader.

As for the teens age 12-18, just signing up for the Teen Summer Reading Program will earn them one free ticket to an event at and one free ticket to the Dakota County Fair's Grand Battle of the Bands.

Teens will also get a chance to win prizes including books, gift cards and an iPod Touch by submitting book reviews.

I remember doing these programs when I was little. I think I read every Baby-sitters Club book written before 1992.

We have eaten here twice now and both times, the food and service have been awesome! I'm a sushiRead More lover so I'm thrilled to have a Japanese restaurant so close to home. If you don't like sushi, there are lots of other options as well - the other night we tried the veggie gyoza appetizer and were really impressed!
