Visitation Volleyball Drops Second Game of Season

Blazers swept by Burnsville Wednesday, falling to 0-2 this season.

Two matches into the season, and no wins yet for the Blazers.

The Blazers fell 16-25, 21-25, 23-25 at Burnsville Wednesday, two days after getting swept by Lakeville South.

Although disappointed with the outcome, coach Joe Zimmermann is trying to look at the positive side of the sweep.

"We did not play well against Lakeville South, but tonight we competed," he said. "I think this was a better team. ... They played us tougher than Lakeville South did."

Last year's Visitation squad made it to the state tournament.

"We have a lot of senior leadership, but a lot of our players are still young," Zimmermann said. "I think there might be a feeling of entitlement: 'We're entitled to win the section; we're entitled to win the conference, we're entitled to go back to state.' I think they're starting to figure out that they've got to start working. We're not playing at the level we hoped we'd be right now, but we're moving in the right direction."

Zimmermann noted that Katie Supplee is showing good leadership in the backcourt as the libero, Anne Debertin is playing better and Samantha Dumler played better against Burnsville than against Lakeville South.
