Viewfinder: Mendota Heights Flag Football

First- and second-graders learn the game of football twice a week in the Mendota Heights Athletic Association NFL Flag Football league.

Flag football rules Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons at the complex.

First and second-graders in the Mendota Heights Athletic Association NFL Flag Football league line up for running, blocking, tackling, an occasional pass and lots of basic instruction. (Just using the mandatory mouthguard and remembering where you left your flags takes some getting used to.)

The association also sponsors youth tackle football for players in grades three through sixth.

The annual Pumpkin Bowl will be held Sunday, Oct. 9 at , the time to be determined. This is a change from the previous NFL flag schedule. Oct. 9 will be the last day for football.
