STA stymied by Pesky Perham Defense

Defending state Class AA champions blanketed STA's bigs throughout the game.

Defending Class AA state champion Perham proved to be too much for for a good boys basketball team on Saturday. The two met in Minnetonka as part of the 10th Annual Breakdown Sports Tip Off Classic. The Cadets are ranked No. 10 in Class AAA.


Perham led 26-18 at the half and increased their lead by as many as 20-points in the second half en route to a 62-54 final. 


Thomas Sjoberg and Mitch Newburg each netted 11 points to lead the Cadets who battled a pesky and persistent Perham defense throughout the game.

STA is now 1-1 on the season and will next face Mound-Westonka on Tuesday.
