Brief: St. Thomas Academy's Schurhamer Named Mr. Hockey Candidate

Defender is one of ten that are up for the honor.

senior was named a top ten candidate for the annual Mr. Hockey Award, presented by the Minnesota Minute Men organization.

Schurhamer has committed to play hockey for the University of Maine next year.

The 28th annual Mr. Hockey Awards Banquet is scheduled for noon on Sunday March 11 at the Grand Ballroom at RiverCentre in St. Paul.

Will Merchant, Eagan High School

Grant Opperman, Breck School

Judd Peterson, Marshall School, Duluth

Jake Randolph, Duluth East High School

Charlie Sampair, Hill-Murray

Eric Schurhamer, St. Thomas Academy

Jared Thomas, Hermantown High School

Dom Toninato, Duluth East High School

Michael Zajac, Eagan High School

A panel of National Hockey League scouts, Division-1 coaches and selected members of the media hold the task of choosing who will be Mr. Hockey.

This would be the first Mr. Hockey award for a St. Thomas Academy player.
