St. Thomas Academy Dominates JV Conference Swim Meet

Cadet swimmers stroke to 10 victories in 12 events to lap the competition in the annual JV meet.

The beat goes on for St. Thomas Academy.

The perennial Minnesota boys swimming power dominated the competition Thursday in the Classic Suburban Conference boys JV swimming and diving meet at Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights.

No team scores were kept in the meet but the Cadets displayed depth and star power in the meet, winning 10 of the 12 events.

Lewie Casper led STA with wins in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.88) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.61).

Also scoring wins for the Cadets were: Andrew Litwin (200-yard freestyle, 2:01.55), Kevin Zimmerman (50 yard freestyle, 25.26), Patrick Wenger (100-yard freestyle, 55.66), Matt Ruzicka (100-yard backstroke, 1:06.66) and August Horner (100-yard breaststroke, 1:14.35)

The St. Thomas Academy teams swept the relays. The 200-yard medley relay team of John Wallner, August Horner, Connor Mulhere and Zimmerman won in 1:55.88, the 200-yard freestyle team of Mike Wegner, Paul Sullivan, William Fenelon and Patrick  Wenger won in 1:45.29 and the Cadets 400-yard freestyle relay team of Patrick Wenger, Zimmerman, Brian Wollan and Hunter Nielson finished first in 3:45.75.
