Mendota Heights Teams Nearing Postseason

Henry Sibley, St. Thomas Academy, Visitation squads conclude sixth week of spring sports season.

The spring sports campaign pushed closer to its conclusion as teams from Henry Sibley, St. Thomas Academy and Visitation continued to jostle for preferred sectional seeding.

St. Thomas Boys Lacrosse: Cadets Fall To 5-6

After going 1-2 last week, the St. Thomas Academy boys lacrosse team heads into its final two-game stretch with a 5-6 overall record, 1-4 in the Classic Suburban Conference.

The Cadets lost 13-4 to conference front-runner Mahtomedi on May 9, defeated Buffalo by a 17-5 count on May 10 and lost 9-6 at White Bear Lake on May 11.

Will Dahl leads the team with 35 points as the Cadets prepare to play at Bloomington Kennedy on Monday and host Simley on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in their final regular-season games.

St. Thomas Academy Baseball: Cadets Enter Week Tied For Second

After surviving a scare from Henry Sibley in a 9-5 win on May 12, the St. Thomas baseball team entered this week with a 10-5 overall record and was tied for second place in the Classic Suburban Conference with Richfield as both teams sported a 9-4 circuit mark. Individual statistics were not available.

St. Thomas Golf: Chapman Medals In Cadets Win

The St. Thomas golf team finished fourth in the Hill-Murray Invitational on May 9 with a team score of 330, then took second in a Classic Suburban Triangular on May 11 with a card of 162. Individual statistics were not available.

Both were prelude to the Cadets' conference triangular victory at Inver Wood Country Club on May 12 as Madden Chapman earned medalist honors with a 37 to lead STA to a victorious team score of 158.

St. Thomas Academy Track And Field: Cadets Third At Sectional True Team Meet

A team score of 598.5 points was good for third place for STA at the Section 2AAA True Team track and field meet at Eagan High School on May 10. Individual results were not available.

St. Thomas Tennis: Woodbury 5, Cadets 2

The STA tennis team lost, 5-2, to Woodbury on May 11. Individual statistics were not available.

Henry Sibley Baseball: Warriors win Third Game

A 7-1 defeat of visiting Cloquet on May 13 went down as the third victory of the season for the Henry Sibley baseball team as the Warriors improved to 3-13 overall.

Sibley dropped three Classic Suburban games during last week, losing to South St. Paul (3-1), North St. Paul (4-1) and St. Thomas (9-5) on May 9, 11 and 12, respectively, to fall to 1-13 in the conference standings. Individual statistics were not available.

Henry Sibley Softball: Warriors Win First Conference Game

A 7-6 win over Tartan on May 11 went down as the first Classic Suburban victory of the season for the Henry Sibley softball team.

The triumph, combined with an 8-4 loss at Richfield on May 9, gave the Warriors a 4-13 overall record and a 1-12 conference mark heading into the final week of the regular season.

Individual statistics were not available. Sibley hosts North St. Paul and Mahtomedi at 4:15 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, to close out the Warriors' pre-playoff schedule.

Henry Sibley Track And Field: Warriors Sixth, Seventh At Sectional True Team Meet

The Henry Sibley track and field teams competed in the Section 3AA True Team meet on May 10 at St. Croix Lutheran High School in Saint Paul.

The boys recorded 504.5 points to finish sixth in their competition, the girls claimed 324 points to take seventh in theirs. Individual statistics were not available.

Henry Sibley Boys Golf: Warriors Compete In Two Meets

The Henry Sibley boys golf team competed twice last week, carding a 174 as a team to finish third at Hillcrest Country Club on May 10, then taking third with a 175 at Inver Wood Golf Course on May 12. Individual statistics were not available.

Henry Sibley Boys Tennis: Warriors 4, Burnsville 3

A 4-3 win over Burnsville concluded the regular season with a victory for the Henry Sibley boys tennis team. Individual statistics were not available.

Visitation Softball: Busy Week For Beacons

The Visitation softball team competed in seven games over six days last week, concluding the stretch with an 11-5 overall record and an 8-2 Tri-Metro Conference mark.

Visitation won its first three contests of the span, defeating St. Agnes (6-5) on May 9, Breck (15-7) on May 10 and St. Paul Academy (9-1) on May 11, before dropping three in a row.

After St. Anthony hung a 15-7 loss on the Beacons on May 12, Visitation went 1-2 at the Benilde-St. Margaret's Tournament on May 14 with setbacks against Hastings (19-0) and Edina (8-5) before salvaging the final game of the tourney with a 13-5 defeat of Legacy Christian. Individual statistics were not available.

Visitation Track And Field: Beacons Second At Sectional True Team

The Visitation track and field team was beaten out for Section 3AA True Team honors by East Ridge, 551.50-544, on May 10. Individual statistics were not available.

Visitation/St. Paul Academy Lacrosse: Blake 14, Beacons 5

A 14-5 loss to state power Blake on May 10 dropped the Visitation/St. Paul Academy lacrosse team to 4-6 on the season with three games remaining in the season this week.

Taylor Smith and Haley Housh scored twice apiece for the Beacons, with Mia Gambucci adding a goal in the loss.

Visitation hosts Minneapolis, Rochester Century and Columbia Heights at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, to close out the regular season.

Visitation Girls Golf: Beacons Win At Mendakota

Claire Nitschke, Rachel Floeder and Kelly McQuillan all tied for medalist honors with identical cards of 49 to lead the Visitation golf team to a 197-213 win over Providence Acadmey at Medakota Country Club on May 12.
