Updated: Mendota Heights Teams Battled Competition, Elements

Mass postponements on account of rain, snow plague squads last week.

Despite being plagued by uncooperative weather and mass postponements, teams from Henry Sibley, St. Thomas Academy and Visitation did manage to compete in an abbreviated schedule last week.

Visitation Softball: Blazers Blast Crusaders

The Visitation softball team won its lone game of last week in magnificent fashion with an 11-1 thumping of visiting St. Croix Lutheran on April 18.

Anne Debertin leads the Blazers with a .750 batting average and four runs batted in, while Staci Cummins and Sarah Leach have each launched one home run apiece. 

Visitation is scheduled to host West Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Henry Sibley Boys Tennis: Warriors 7, Simley 0

The Henry Sibley boys tennis team was only able to get in one match last week, but it was a good one as the Warriors shut out Simley, 7-0, on April 21.

Matt Schull, Danny Axelrod, Matt Kamman and Adam Dorn won their singles matches, with the teams of Sebastian Beermann/Andy Morgan, Brett Wills/David Wilton and Noah Farber/Chris Prokosch claiming victories in doubles.

Sibley travels to Eagan for a non-conference matchup at 4 p.m. Monday.

Visitation/SPA Girls Lacrosse: Co-op Squad Tops Prior Lake

A 13-6 win over visiting Prior Lake on April 20 evened the Visitation/St. Paul Academy girls lacrosse team's record at 2-2 on the spring.

Taylor Smith leads the team with seven goals, with Haley Housh netting six goals.

Visitation/SPA travels to Rochester Mayo for a Thursday night match at 6:30 p.m.

Saint Thomas Baseball: Cadets Split Conference Contests

After splitting last week's Classic Suburban Conference matchups against Tartan and Henry Sibley, the St. Thomas Academy baseball team heads into a Monday afternoon game at Richfield with a 2-3 record.

The Cadets lost 6-1 at home to Tartan on April 18, then defeated Henry Sibley 14-1 on April 21.

Individual results were not available. St. Thomas is scheduled to return home for a conference tilt against Hill-Murray on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

Henry Sibley Baseball: Warriors Swept In Last Week's Games

The Henry Sibley baseball team was swept by Classic Suburban opponents South St. Paul (5-0) and St. Thomas Academy (14-1) on April 18 and 21, respectively, to fall to 2-4 on the season.

Individual statistics were not available. Sibley is scheduled to host Hill-Murray in a conference battle on Monday at 4:15 p.m.

St. Thomas Academy Lacrosse: Cadets Win Two In A Row

A 21-4 crushing of visiting Owatonna on April 21 capped off a 2-1 stretch last week as the St. Thomas Academy lacrosse team improved to 2-3 on the season. 

The Cadets also defeated host Minneapolis, 5-4, on April 20 after losing 10-6 to visiting Mahtomedi one day earlier.

Individual statistics were not available. St. Thomas hosts conference foe Simley on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Henry Sibley Softball: Warriors Remain Winless

The Henry Sibley softball team fell to 0-5 on the year after a pair of conference losses to Simley and Richfield last week.

Simley eked out a 10-9 win over the Warriors on April 18, before the Spartans shutout Sibley, 10-0, in an April 21 contest.

Individual results were not available. The Warriors travel to Tartan on Monday for a 4:15 p.m. game.

Henry Sibley and St. Thomas Boys Golf: Cadets Ninth, Warriors 11th At Tartan Invitational

The Henry Sibley and St. Thomas Academy boys golf teams both competed at the Tartan Invitational at Tartan Park on April 18, with the Cadets carding a 343 to take ninth and the Warriors firing a 348 to finish 11th. Individual results were not available.

Henry Sibley Girls Golf: Warriors Card 227 At Oak Marsh

The Henry Sibley girls golf team scored a 227 to finish eighth at its Classic Suburban meet at Oak Marsh Golf Course in Oakdale on April 20.

St. Thomas Tennis: Mahtomedi 5, Cadets 2

The St. Thomas tennis team lost 5-2 to Mahtomedi on April 19. Individual results were not available. The Cadets are slated to play Hill-Murray at Tartan Park in Oakdale on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Henry Sibley Boys Track And Field: Warriors Compete At Woodbury
The Henry Sibley boys track and field team competed at Woodbury on April 21. Team scores were not currently available. Tyrell Martin and Carlos Salazar both ran times of 12.2 seconds in the 100-meter dash, with Martin also posting a 24.7 in the 200-meter dash. Bobby Wills finished in 51.1 in the 400-meter dash, with Andrew McMenomy pacing the Warriors in the 800-meter run with a time of two minutes, 25 seconds. Josh Wareham (4:40) and Mark Rosno (10:47) topped the Sibley results in the 1600- and 3200-meter run, respectively, with Mitch Honsa and Ken Jinkins claiming times of 18.3 in the 110-meter hurdles and Dalton Winspear running a 48.2 in the 300-meter hurdles.

In the relays, Jinkins, Martin, Dante Grant and Julius Johnson ran a 1:42.2 in the 4x200-meter, with Alec Rosenberger, Matt Kuckler, Freddy Reza and Leo Padilla putting up a 51.5 in the 4x100-meter; Sol Olson-Holmly, Will Larsen, P.J. Gannon and Ricky Peterson turned in a 4:07.3 in the 4x400-meter and Mark Dosh, Lucas Kellogg, Tyler Michienzi and Ben Johnston running a 9:54 in the 4x400-meter.

In field events, Ethan Knight topped the Warriors with hurls of 51 feet, 7.5 inches and 155-8 in shot put and discus, respectively, while Hunter Johnson and Joey Matheson both posted flings of 9-0 in pole vault and Dre McCreary claimed respective leaps of 18-8.5 and 40-10.25 in the long and triple jump events.
