Mendota Heights Sports Roundup: Cross-Country Teams Compete At Milaca Mega Meet

Visitation takes third as Martha Hubbell tops 133-runner field to win AAA Division individual title, St. Thomas Academy places sixth in boys AAAA Division.

Cross-country running teams from , and all competed in one of the three massive meets to take place in the state last weekend, running on a picturesque Saturday at the Milaca Mega Meet.

Visitation Cross-Country

The Visitation cross-country team finished third overall in the AAA Division Mega Meet girls race at the Stone's Throw Golf Course, with Martha Hubbell earning the individual championship in a time of 14 minutes, 47 seconds over the girls 4-kilometer course.

Henry Sibley Cross-Country

The Henry Sibley cross-country teams competed in the Mega Meet's AAAA Division, with the boys finishing 12th and the girls coming in 16th.

Cruz Barrera led the Warriors boys with a ninth-place finish in a time of 16 minutes, 32.3 seconds over five kilometers, while Alicia Olsen paced the girls with a 52nd-place result of 16:22.3 on the 4K course.

St. Thomas Academy Cross-Country

Also competing in the AAAA boys race at the Mega Meet was St. Thomas Academy, which finished sixth overall in the 17-team field. Leading the Cadets was Killian Brackey, who finished 17th individually in a time of 17:01.8.

Visitation Girls Soccer

The ninth-ranked Visitation girls soccer team split its last four games with two wins and two losses to bring its record to 9-2 on the season.

Wins of 2-1 over DeLaSalle and 4-0 over Concordia Academy last Tuesday and Thursday were sandwiched by losses of 6-0 to No. 3 St. Paul Academy and 5-1 to No. 10 Holy Angels on the past two Saturdays respectively.

Visitation enters this week second in the Tri-Metro Conference with a 6-1 circuit record as Abby O'Brien's 12 goals lead the squad, with Haley Housh's 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) pace the team; goalkeeper Mattie Melin sports a 1.58 goals-against-average in 810 minutes played.

St. Thomas Boys Soccer

Back-to-back losses to Henry Sibley (2-0) and Rochester Lourdes (2-1) last Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, dropped the STA boys soccer team to 5-5-1 on the year.

Benjamin Lemay leads the Cadets with nine goals, with Henry Hart's five assists pacing the club.

Henry Sibley Girls Soccer

The Henry Sibley girls soccer team snapped a five-game losing streak with an 8-0 blanking of St. Agnes on Saturday to improve to 3-6-3 on the season. Individual statistics were not made available.

Henry Sibley Boys Soccer

A 2-0 win over St. Thomas Academy last Tuesday was followed up by a 1-0 loss at Mahtomedi last Thursday to bring the Henry Sibley boys soccer team's record to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the Classic Suburban Conference.

Visitation Volleyball

After finishing fifth at the Farmington Tournament on Sept. 17, the Visitation volleyball team swept both Breck and St. Anthony Village in three games to improve to 11-4 overall on the season.

The Blazers enter this week tied with Minnehaha Academy atop the Tri-Metro as both squads have 4-0 conference records. Individual statistics were not made available.

Henry Sibley Volleyball

The Henry Sibley volleyball team lost 3-2 to Simley last Tuesday, then defeated South St. Paul 3-0 last Thursday to bring its record in dual matches to 3-4. Individual statistics were not made available.

Visitation Girls Tennis

Back-to-back 5-2 victories against Mounds Park and Breck last Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, gave the Visitation girls tennis team a 9-3 record entering this week. Individual statistics were not made available.

Henry Sibley Girls Tennis

The Henry Sibley girls tennis team entered the week on a six-match losing streak after losing 4-3 to Bloomington Jefferson and Simley and 7-0 to South St. Paul last week. Individual statistics were not made available.
