Mendota Heights Patch Game of The Week: Henry Sibley Volleyball Faces Hill-Murray

Henry Sibley meets two-time defending Classic Suburban Conference champion Hill-Murray in a key road match Thursday.

LAST MEETING: Hill-Murray defeated the Warriors in three sets at both meeting last season.

ON THE LINE
Henry Sibley, which finished 7-7 in conference play last year, faces the 2010 defending Classic Suburban Conference champion. The Pioneers are trying to win their fifth conference title in the last six years. They are 27-1 in Classic Suburban Conference play the past two years and return the top two leaders in kills. The Pioneers advanced to the Section 4AAA title game last year for the first time in school history. Their lone loss this year was to No. 6 Class AAA Eden Prairie. An upset win could help propel the Warriors into the conference top three.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Brittany Jessen—Henry Sibley (outside hitter)
Jessen was a Classic Suburban All-Conference selection as a freshman. She is an excellent server and is praised for her leadership, despite being only a sophomore.

Jocelyn Youngdahl—Hill-Murray (outside hitter)
Youngdahl was named Classic Suburban All-Conference for the second straight year and second in the conference in kills. She committed to Atlantic Sun school Belmont. Youngdahl is a two-time captain.

WARRIORS WIN IF...
Their smallish front row is able to handle the bigger Pioneers’ squad in a key conference match.

PIONEERS WIN IF...
They continue to serve well and put pressure on the Warrior’s back row.
