Mendota Heights Kid Competes at National Snowboarding Championships

Cooper Voita, 9, of Mendota Heights placed 31st in halfpipe and 46th in slopestyle at the 2013 USA Snowboard Association National Championships held at Copper Mountain, Colo., March 30-April 4.

Voita is a member of the G Team snowboarding team. The team issued the following press release about Voita's accomplishment:

Mendota Heights snowboarder Cooper Voita placed among the Nation’s top competitors at this year’s USASA (United States Amateur Snowboard Association) national snowboard competition held at Copper Mountain, CO March 30st – April 5th. Cooper is a top competitor from Minnesota’s Upper Midwest Alt series, competing in the Grommet Boys (8-9) division.  He advanced to the National Championships for his first time where he left a mark on this year’s competition, placing 31st in Halfpipe and 46th in Slopestyle.

Cooper has been training hard since early September with the Midwest’s premiere snowboard team, the G Team. The G Team works with riders of all ability levels and ages in competitive and non-competitive teams.  Riders get to train with experienced and professional coaches to reach their desired goals in snowboarding. Watch for these riders to continue to push themselves in next year’s competition series.
