Mendota Heights Area Squads Close Out April

Poor weather leads to a number of postponements yet again, however, most teams able to get in games last week.

While Mother Nature once again put the kibosh on a number of midweek games last week, local athletic squads from Henry Sibley, St. Thomas Academy and Visitation School were able to get the bulk of their contests in as April drew to a close.

Henry Sibley Baseball: Warriors Fall To 2-6

The Henry Sibley baseball team fell to 2-6 on the season with back-to-back losses to Hill-Murray (8-1) and North St. Paul (7-3) on April 25 and 28, respectively.

Individual statistics were not available. The Warriors are scheduled to play at Mahtomedi on Monday, before hosting Tartan on Wednesday, Simley on Thursday and Richfield on Friday. All home games are slated to start at 4:15 p.m.

Henry Sibley Softball: Warriors Still Seek First Win

A 2-1 loss at Mahtomedi on April 28 after an 8-7 defeat at Tartan dropped the Henry Sibley softball team to 0-8 on the spring.

Emily Usset and Rachel Friberg are tied for the team lead with nine runs batted in apiece, with Samantha Harrity and Friberg's 10 runs scored leading the squad; Tessa Larson's .400 batting average paces the Warriors.

Sibley is scheduled to host Hill-Murray, South St. Paul and Simley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, before a road trip to North St. Paul on Friday night.

Henry Sibley Boys Lacrosse: Warriors Begin Week At 0-2

The Henry Sibley boys lacrosse team was 0-2 entering the week after a 13-6 loss at White Bear Lake on April 28. 

Jack Bees scored three times and Nick Cooper twice in the loss; the Warriors play at Hastings at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and at Hudson, Wis. on Thursday.

Henry Sibley Boys Tennis: Warriors Lose First Of Season

The Henry Sibley boys tennis team lost its first match of the season, 6-1, to Elk River on April 30.

The defeat followed back-to-back 7-0 wins over Minneapolis Southwest and South St. Paul on April 27 and 28, respectively. Individual results were not available.

Henry Sibley Goys Golf: Tartan 161, Warriors 177

The Henry Sibley boys golf team lost to Tartan, 161-177, in a meet at Tartan Park on April 29. Individual statistics were not available.

St. Thomas Baseball: Cadets Even Record At 4-4

The St. Thomas Academy baseball team sandwiched two wins around a loss last week to even its record at 4-4 on the season.

The Cadets topped Richfield, 6-3, on April 25, fell at North St. Paul by a 14-5 score on April 28, then throttled South St. Paul, 21-4, on April 29.

Individual results were not available. St. Thomas hosts Hill-Murray on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m., then plays on the road for three-straight days beginning Wednesday at Simley with stops at Mahtomedi on Thursday and St. Michael-Albertville on Friday.

St. Thomas Lacrosse: Cadets Thump Simley, Improve To .500

In its lone game of last week, the St. Thomas Academy lacrosse team throttled visiting Simley, 17-7, on April 26 to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Ethan Rasmussen scored seven goals, with Will Dahl tallying five goals and Charlie Thomey two goals.

The Cadets play at Hill-Murray on Tuesday and host Rochester Century at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Visitation Softball: Blazers Close April At 4-2

The Visitation softball team closed out April with a 4-2 record after winning two of three games last week.

Following a 19-9 loss at Minnehaha Academy on April 27, the Blazers defeated Concordia Academy, 2-1, on April 28 and Brooklyn Center, 10-4, on April 29.

Grace Jurkovich's 10 RBI lead the team, as does Sarah Leach's .550 batting average and seven runs scored.

Visitation is scheduled to play at Blake on Monday, then host DeLaSalle and Minneapolis Washburn at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and 4 p.m. Thursday, respectively.

Visitation Girls Track And Field: Blazers Second In Tri-Metro Triangular

The Visitation girls track and field team scored 69 points to place second in the Tri-Metro Triangular at Minnehaha Academy on April 28. Individual results were not available.

Visitation/St. Paul Academy Girls Lacrosse: Co-Op Team At 3-3

The Visitation/St. Paul Academy girls lacrosse team enters this week at 3-3 after a 12-9 loss to Rochester Mayo on April 28 and a 12-10 defeat of St. Cloud on April 30.

Haley Housh leads the team with 19 goals, followed by Taylor Smith's 14 goals.

The Blazers travel to Rochester John Marshall on Tuesday, to Holy Angels on Wednesday and to Owatonna on Saturday.
