Henry Sibley Volleyball on the Heels of Top Three in Classic Suburban Conference

Hill-Murray, North St. Paul and Tartan are expected to finish 1-2-3 in Classic Suburban Conference volleyball standings for the second straight year.

Teams to Watch:

Henry Sibley — The Warriors opened up the season 7-2-2 a year ago, and Henry Sibley hopes to have that type of early-season success in 2011.

Hill Murray —The Pioneers are trying to win their fifth conference title in the last six years. They are 27-1 in Classic Suburban Conference play the past two years and return the top two leaders in kills. The Pioneers advanced to the Section 4AAA title game last year for the first time in school history
North—The Polars went from finishing 4-10 two tears ago to going 12-2 last season.
Tartan—The Titans improved by five games in conference play last season after winning the Classic Suburban title in 2008. However, they must replace both players who were named All-Conference.

Players to Watch
Claire Van Dyk—Hill Murray (outside hitter)
Van Dyk is a two-time All-Classic Suburban Conference selection. She led the conference is kills and was second in digs. Van Dyk helped lead the Pioneers’ basketball team to Class AAA title game last season. She committed to Bryant for volleyball
Jocelyn Youngdahl—Hill Murray (outside hitter)
Youngdahl was named Classic Suburban All-Conference for the second straight year and second in the conference in kills. She committed to Atlantic Sun school Belmont. Youngdahl is a two-time captain.
Sophie Jaskulske—North St. Paul (middle)
The UW Green Bay commit was third in the conference in kills and was an All-Conference selection last season.
Jessica January—Richfield (middle, outside hitter)
January is one of the best athletes in the state. She won the 100-meter hurdles for the second straight year as a sophomore and finished third in the long jump. January won the 300-meter hurdles as a freshman. She averaged 26 points per game in basketball and was an All-Conference selection in volleyball.

Key Losses
Emily Crew—Tartan (middle hitter)
Crew was a team captain who led the Titans in kills. She was named All-Conference and is currently playing at Wisconsin-Stout. 
Lisa Loeffler—North (middle hitter)
Loeffler was a four-year letter winner and two-time All-Conference selection. The Athena Award will play basketball at South Dakota this year.
Cassie Bertelsen—North (outside hitter)
Bertelsen was a two-time All-Conference selection who also led the Polars to the state softball tournament.

Toughest Road trip
Hill-Murray—The Pioneers have not lost at home since September 29, 2009 to Simley.
North St. Paul—The Polars lost only once at home last season, falling to conference champion Hill-Murray.
