Henry Sibley Softball Suffers Tough Loss to Tartan

The Sibley softball team squandered a 5-run lead to lose to Tartan 8-7 Monday afternoon.

After scoring five runs in the second inning and holding a 7-3 lead after the top of the fourth, the Henry Sibley Warriors were well on their way to victory Monday afternoon.

However, several errors in the field and well-timed hitting by Tartan led to a disappointing fifth inning for Sibley. Tartan matched Sibley's five second-inning runs with five of their own to give them an 8-7 lead.

Tartan was able to steal several bases to move runners into scoring position throughout the inning to capatalize on their opportunities.

The Warriors also helped the Tartan cause with inaccurate throws and mental mistakes that led to several runs. Sibley had one more chance at the end of the game with two runners in scoring position and two outs, before the runner on third was caught in a rundown and tagged for the final out.

Sibley is scheduled to play at North St. Paul Wednesday April 27 at 4:15 p.m.
