Camp Invention

The Camp Invention program is a week-long experience that focuses on creativity in the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and math. It is coming to Convent of the Visitation School August 1-5 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

Last year more than 66,000 children attended the program at elementary schools and other local sites around the United States. Children who participate in the Camp Invention program rotate through five creativity-rich modules each day that focus on brainstorming and hands-on exercises. Among activities, participants create their own inventions using parts of old machines they have taken apart, "upcycled" materials, and other supplies during I Can Invent: Fantasy Inventions & Complicated Machines. In a math and engineering module from the Spark curriculum, The Curious Cypher Club, children learn to decipher different historical codes each day, then work together in small groups to figure out the best use of limited materials to construct a clubhouse.

The local Camp Invention program is currently registering participants for this summer. Space is limited, as each program site can only include up to 110 children in kindergarten through sixth grade. For additional information or to register, visit www.campinvention.org or call 800-968-4332.
