Brief: STA Football Rolls To 42-13 Win

The Cadets remained undefeated on the season and in conference play with a lopsided win over North St. Paul

The St. Thomas Academy football team remained unbeaten on the season with a 42-13 win over North St. Paul on Friday at home.

The Cadets (5-0, 5-0 Classic Suburban Conference) scored 14 points in each of the first three quarters to gain control of the game and never looked back. It is the fourth time in five games that STA scored at least 40 points in a contest this fall.

Five of the six Cadets touchdowns were on the ground, including three by Kevin Gray—a four-yard run in the second quarter and 2-yard and 16-yard runs in the third.

Billy Mork and John Lunger also scored rushing touchdowns, and John Gould connected with Gray for a 30-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

North St. Paul (1-4, 1-4) fell behind 21-0 before scoring its first touchdown, then trailed 42-7 before scoring a fourth-quarter touchdown.

STA is outscoring its opponents by an average of 33 points per game this season. The Cadets will look to keep that going next week with a home matchup against Holy Family Catholic. Kickoff is set for Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
