Brief: Mahtomedi Holds Warriors Football Scoreless

Sibley's yardage can't match the Zephyrs.

Mahtomedi walked away with a 33-0 home field win against football Friday night.

Mahtomedi scored first in the first quarter with a 15-yard pass followed by an extra point. In the second quarter, they added a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion, then a field goal to bring the score to 18-0.

Sibley wasn’t able to regain traction in the third. Mahtomedi scored again after a 51-yard run followed by yet another two-point conversion, and a final TD with an extra point to set the final score.

Sibley outpaced Mahtomedi in pass attempts 19-10, but their completion percentage was just 20 percent to Mahtomedi’s 70 percent.

Mahtomedi’s running game made the difference, tallying 283 yards to Sibley’s 72.

The loss brings the Warriors record to 1-4, and 1-4 in the Classic Suburban Conference. Mahtomedi brings their record to 3-2, and 3-1 in the conference.

The Warriors will face Tartan at home Thursday, Oct. 6.
