The Final Count: Who’s Running for District 197 School Board?

Voters of the Mendota Heights-West St. Paul-Eagan School District will be deciding who will fill four positions on the board this November.

Filing for the District 197 School Board closed The seats of Cristina Gillette, Robin Rainford, Mark Spurr and Laurie Tostrud are up for election.

Who filed, who didn't:

Yes: John Chandler

A Mendota Heights resident, Chandler filed Aug. 16.

Yes: Brenda Jo Corbett

A West St. Paul resident, Corbett filed Aug. 11.

Yes: Ted Kellogg

A Mendota Heights resident, Kellogg filed Aug. 15.

Yes: Melissa Peterson Malen

A West St. Paul resident, Malen filed Aug. 3.

Yes: Joanne Mansur

A Mendota Heights resident, Mansur filed Aug. 16.

Yes: Byron Schwab

A West St. Paul resident, Schwab filed Aug. 16.

Yes: Mark Spurr

Spurr, a seated board member, turned his paperwork in to the district Monday night.

 

No: Robin Rainford

Rainford, the board chair, submitted her paperwork the first day of filing, but said Monday night that she will be withdrawing today. Rainford told the board that she has an opportunity to work in Prague for 3-4 months. An absence of that length is not compatible with board service, she said.

No: Christina Gillette

Gillette, a seated board member, did not file to defend her seat.

No: Laurie Tostrud

Tostrud, a seated board member, did not file to defend her seat.
