Viewfinder: The Show Goes On at Friendly Hills

Friendly Hills Middle School spring concert singers overcome technical difficulties and threatening weather to leave audiences wanting more.

Neither threat of thunderstorms nor technical difficulties could hold back the singers of Friendly Hills Middle School Tuesday evening. The show, after all, must go on.

Technical difficulties altered the order of the performance a bit, and forced the quartet of Stephanie Andrade, Imana Raddatz, Vianka Aguirre and Miki Stacey to sing "Battlefield" a capella. The foursome managed that feat with aplomb and drew a lengthy ovation from the audience.

The looming area thunderstorm didn't intrude, although Friendly Hills principal Joni Hagebock kept the audience up-to-date on the weather.

The seventh grade choir opened the show, following by the Summit Singers and then the eighth grade choir. All three groups were directed by Katie Pearson. Jeff Patry was the accompanist.

Music ranged from familiar American standards to folk music from Zambia, Italy, Brazil and Ireland, plus two songs from the musical "Les Miserables."
