Three members of the community were officially recognized at Monday evening’s school board meeting.
junior Joshua Levine was recognized after being named a 2012 Scholar of Distinction by the Minnesota Department of Education.
Levine, who was recognized for his work in social studies and civics, is one of 34 students across the state to receive this title.
“It’s truly an honor,” said Sibley principal Dr. Robin Percival, who presented Levine to the board.
Molly Nemer, a senior at Henry Sibley, was recognized for her first place win at the Minnesota State History Day competition.
Nemer won the senior individual documentary category with her film about integration in early American suburbs. She is eligible to compete in the 2012 National History Day competition this month at the University of Maryland.
“Molly is an incredibly bright student,” said Percival. “We are very proud.”
Also recognized was Bonnie Utermarck, playground supervisor at .
“It’s been a pleasure for me to work with Bonnie,” said Steven Goldade, who is the principal of Mendota Elementary and presented Utermarck to the board.
Utermark has been at Mendota Elementary for the past 16 years.
“I just want to say, I love my job,” said Utermark.
