Photo Gallery: Henry Sibley Class of 2011 Graduates

A ceremony full of music and roses marked the passage of the 58th graduate class of Henry Sibley High School.

Henry Sibley High School held its fifty-eighth annual commencement ceremony at Roy Wilkins Auditorium on June 5, 2011. Crowds of families gathered to celebrate their student's achievements.

The ceremony was filled with music provided by the student body. The school band opened up with a theme from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" before transitioning into the more traditional strains of "Pomp and Circumstance" for the processional.

Choir students performed the "Star-Spangled Banner," "Seal Lullabye" and "And So It Goes."

The senior address was given by Kaleigh Kramer, who sent out thanks, and a few sorries, to the important people in the lives of students.

Seniors Angela Hensel and Nel Pilgrim-Rukavina also gave a joint address, commenting on how the important milestones in life manage to come so slowly, yet pass so fast.

A well-received faculty address by retiring teacher Brenda Corbett focused on the meaning of "self-efficacy" and encouraged students to "go out into the world and do well, but more importantly, go out into the world and do good."

Students were then ready to cross the stage, where they received a diploma folder and a rose from members of the District 197 School Board.

After the ceremony, families gathered for photos, flowers and hugs, lingering in the moment.
