Henry Sibley Student Named Scholar of Distinction

Joshua Levine has shown mastery in the area of social studies and civics.

A junior at has been named a 2012 Scholar of Distinction by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Joshua Levine is one of 34 Minnesota high school students honored last Saturday at the Scholars of Distinction award program.

“Josh has taken advantage of great educational opportunities both at Henry Sibley and outside of the classroom, and he is a highly motivated student,” said Sibley Principal Robin Percival in a statement. “His ability to go above and beyond what is expected will continue to bring him success in his future endeavors, and he is very deserving of this honor.”

Levine developed his scholarship in social studies and civics. Students who are recognized by the award demonstrate mastery of a complex subject matter and an ability to apply that knowledge to the real world.

“These young people are the bright lights of our state’s future, and I offer them my sincere congratulations and best wishes as they take the next steps in their academic careers,” said Minnesota Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius.
