Henry Sibley Girls Soccer Defeats Richfield 2-0

A first half goal gives Warriors the edge, and second half goal seals the deal.

The Henry Sibley girls soccer team traveled to Richfield on Tuesday to take on the Spartans. In their last regular season game, the Warriors looked to win the game to build some momentum heading into playoffs.

The Warriors were able to maintain possession for most of the game and put pressure on Richfield to make defensive plays. Henry Sibley had 26 shots compared to Richfield's 7.

Lauren Ahern struck first for Henry Sibley, shooting from short range and capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Richfield in the first half.

It was much of the same in the second half. And just as Richfield gained some offensive momentum, Sibley countered a Richfield corner kick with a fast break pass up to Courtney Armborst who beat the goalie to make the lead 2-0 late in the second half.

Henry Sibley (5-7-4) will next face Highland Park in the Section 3AA tournament on Oct. 10.
