File for District 197 School Board Elections Aug. 2-16

Four of seven positions are up for election.

Four of the seven school board positions in the West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan School District are up for election Nov. 8, 2011.

The positions of Cristina Gillette, Robin Rainford, Mark Spurr and Laurie Tostrud are up for election.

For those wishing to run for one of these positions, filing opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 and closes 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Candidates must file an affidavit and pay a $2 fee in the adjacent to Henry Sibley High School. Affidavits are available at the office.

Those elected will be sworn into office Jan. 2, 2012 for a four-year term.

Potential candidates must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have lived in the school district for 30 days before the general election
  • Turn in filing fee and affidavits of candidacy by the Aug. 16 deadline

An optional informational meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3* at Henry Sibley High School's media center, according to the District's website. School board members will be on-hand to discuss school board service.

The Minnesota School Board Association provides additional guidelines on school board service and candidates.
