“Top Secret Rosies: Female Computers of World War II” public screening and discussion

As part of its diversity program and Women’s History Month, Saint Thomas Academy is proud to host a free public screening and director led discussion of the documentary “Top Secret Rosies: Female Computers of World War II,” by Temple University Professor LeAnn Erickson.

The documentary captures the story of a secret U.S. Military program that recruited female mathematicians from across the country to aid war efforts in 1942. The brilliant women were responsible for mathematically calculating weapon trajectories and breaking enemy codes, thus helping our soldiers and our country win World War II. And, after the war ended, a small group of these women went on to be the first programmers of the very first computer, and helped forge the path of modern technology that led to the computers we use today.
