Brief: Visitation Campus Minister Defends Food Drives

An opinion piece in the Star Tribune says money, not cans is the way to go. Not so fast, says Kathleen Daniewicz.

Campus Minister Kathleen Daniewicz spoke up over the weekend in a Star Tribune opinion piece defending food drives.

A previous opinion piece, originally written for the Los Angeles Times, argued that money, not donations of food, could extend much further to meet the needs of the hungry.

However, Daniewicz argued that efforts like the school's featured in Mendota Heights Patch teaches much more than how to dutifully write a check and should complement cash donations.
