Brief: Compare District 197's Budget Cuts, Borrowing

A survey of 42 school districts tallies the impact on school district budgets across the metro.

The Association of Metropolitan School Districts released results of a survey this week on school district finances.

The 42 responding school districts reported figures on where they cut, who they cut, and how much they borrowed to stay afloat.

The average number of full-time (FT) positions eliminated in metro districts was 14.47. The eliminated 17.72 FT positions, according to the data.

A total of 607.725 FT positions were reported cut from the 42 districts for this school year.

Districts dipped into reserves ($58.9 million) nearly as much as they cut from the bottom line ($61.2 million). District 197 reported using $396,531 in reserves, and cut $1.5 million.
