Mendota Elementary highlighted in national Cheerios campaign

This fall General Mills is organizing a national Cheerios "Send Cheer to Teachers" initiative. Parents, guardians, grandparents and more are encouraged to send their child's teacher a note using a postcard on specially-marked boxes of Cheerios cereal. Submissions can also be made through the Cheerios website, www.cheerios.com/cheerteachers.

Cheer has already been sent to one District 197 school and the message is currently being featured on the website. A Mendota Elementary parent, Andrea, wrote in to thank Principal Steve Goldade for helping her son share his interest in presidential history with his classmates.

Somerset Elementary was also recently highlighted by General Mills through their Box Tops for Education program. The school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was awarded a $5,000 prize which included $1,000 worth of Avery office products, $1,000 in Ziploc products, and $3,000 in cash for the school. A photo of Principal Sara Palodichuk and parents Anita Lopez-Dickey and Julie Lyford is also posted on the www.cheerios.com/cheerteachers site.
