Emergency Preparedness Drill at Sibley This Friday, July 26

An emergency drill will be conducted by the Dakota County Public Health Department at Sibley High School on Friday, July 26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Public Health staff will be testing plans for operating a “medication center” at Sibley during a large-scale crisis. In the event of a disease outbreak, county residents could come to the school to obtain medicine or a vaccination.

Sibley has been designated as one of five locations in Dakota County where medication centers would be opened in an emergency. The drill at Sibley on Friday will test how quickly Public Health staff can provide services to large numbers of people. The county held a smaller version of this drill at Sibley in May.

More than 300 volunteers and emergency professionals will take part in Friday's simulation.

Visitors to Henry Sibley on Friday are asked to avoid the area in which the drill will take place (main entrance). Parking will be very limited.
