Rep. Hansen plays key leadership role for Midwestern Legislative Conference

ST. PAUL, MN – The 68th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Legislative Conference will be taking place July 14-17 and State Representative Rick Hansen (DFL – South St. Paul) has played a key leadership role in putting the conference together. Rep. Hansen is a member of the Host Committee and a co-chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.

“This conference gives legislators throughout the Midwest a chance to meet each other, take an in-depth look at the issues and explore how other states have tackled problems,” said Rep. Hansen. “We have a unique opportunity this year to show nearby states how great our state is and how we’ve solved tough challenges on a number of issues.”

Members of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee will participate in a tour of agricultural sites around South St. Paul prior to the conference. The tour will begin at Long Cheng-Hmong Processing and Market to hear about food safety and inspections. Next the tour will stop at EarthClean Corporation to discuss marketing and Minnesota’s Agricultural Utilization Research Institute before ending the tour at the Chamberlain Dairy Farm where attendees will hear about contour farming and changing weather conditions.
