MnDOT: Ramps to NB I-35E in Lilydale Close Sept. 6

Project to improve interchange runs through October; ramps close for one week.

Installation of traffic lights and improvements to the interchange of is scheduled to kick off Tuesday, Sept. 6, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Both northbound ramps of Interstate 35E are scheduled to close at 9 a.m., and reopen Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Along with ramp and sidewalk improvements, MnDOT will be installing traffic signals that feature a new, flashing yellow arrow for left-hand turns.

The blinking yellow arrow is easier to understand than a green arrow and allows for better traffic flow in low-speed or low-volume situations, according to the department.

MnDOT also plans to resurface the ramps and build a new left turn lane from 35E northbound onto Highway 13 (Sibley Memorial Highway).

Following the initial construction, intermittent lane closures are expected through Oct. 11. MnDOT's project overview is available on their website.
