"After the position opened up in April I was encouraged to apply by a number of individuals and will participate in the interview process next week," said McKnight in an email.  "Farmington is my hometown and a place that holds a special place to me.  I look forward to discussing the future of the city with the city council, staff and residents next week."

Before that, McKnight had been the administrator of Dodge County for eight years.

The vacancy in Farmington comes after the resignation of former city administrator Peter Herlofsky due to performance disagreements, according to Thisweek Newspapers.

An interim city administrator, Kevin Schorzman, has been filling the position in the meantime.

Interviews with the Farmington City Council are scheduled for Friday, June 24. A public “meet and greet” is scheduled for Monday, June 27.

A special meeting is scheduled for June 29 to select finalists. The second round of interviews is planned for July 11.  A date for a final decision has not been set yet to leave time for the background review process, according to Larson.
