Lilydale City Administrator Announces Move to Iowa

Mendota staffer steps in to help with transition.

City Administrator Teish Stafne told the Lilydale City Council last week that she intends to move to Iowa sometime in spring. An arrangement with Mendota will allow her to work part-time moving forward.

Stafne was hired in 2009 to replace .

Stafne told Patch that her husband took a position near Iowa City the first week of July. For now, she has been taking off Fridays to spend the weekends in Iowa. At some point in September, she’ll be reducing her hours to three days a week in Lilydale.

A part-time office assistant, Lois Owen, has been in the office on Fridays.   

Mendota’s city administrator, Jennifer Bruestle, has agreed to fill in on Thursdays.

“She’s close by and has experience because she’s doing the same thing,” said Stafne.

Bruestle said she’s familiar with the Lilydale Council, and said her own city council sees helping out their neighbor city as a positive.

Stafne said she intends to stay through the spring audit period, “as long as the (winter) driving doesn’t get to be a problem.”
