$500 Offered for Info on Mendota Heights Burglaries

Homes have been targeted in the area east of Lexington Avenue between Highway 110 and Highway 13.

A rash of burglaries has targeted a neighborhood of Mendota Heights around Lexington Avenue and Marie Avenue, according to Investigator Tanner Spicer.

Three or four burglaries over the span of about two months have hit homes mostly east of Lexington between Highway 110 and Highway 13, said Spicer.

He said he suspects that the burglaries were done by the same person or people.

“If it’s that small of an area, I’m suspecting it’s going to be some local people.”

A $500 reward has been offered by the department for information leading to arrest and charges.

Spicer said the burglaries have been pulled off in relatively short time frames while residents leave their homes in the evening.

Most recently, two guns were stolen from a home on Victoria Road between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Anyone who would like to leave a tip with the department can call 651-255-1170. The tip line is checked Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Leave as much information as possible. If you see something suspicious, call 9-1-1.

 Tips to deter a burglar:

  • Be vigilant when leaving your home—be mindful of your surroundings.
  • Call police if you see anyone suspicious hanging around.
  • Turn on your porch lights when leaving your home, and if possible, make sure your yard is lit to deter crime.
