Mendota Heights PD Blotter: Series of Car Break-Ins Reported on Lexington

One bike found abandoned at Henry Sibley, another found hanging in a tree.

All information was taken from the Mendota Heights Police Department incident summaries from March 29-April 14.

April 12

A driver pulled over on Highway 110 had new tabs that did not show up in the system, no license and no insurance.  The driver told police he’d been pulled over the day before in St. Paul for the same thing.

April 11

A black BMX bike was found abandoned at Henry Sibley High School.

April 10

A wedding ring was reported stolen from Hokah Avenue.

A squad pulled over to help a driver noticed a car drive by under the speed limit that may no attempt to move over a lane. That driver was pulled over and appeared impaired. The suspect had multiple aliases and warrants.

A car parked at St. Thomas Academy was reported vandalized.

April 9

A 15-year-old male runaway was reported.

April 6

A number of cars were reported broken into on the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue. Among the items reported stolen from the damaged vehicles were an iPod, iPod Touch, eyeglasses, a whistle and a shotgun.

A bike was reported hanging from a tree on the 2100 block of Theresa Street.

April 3

A fight was reported at Moose Country, but no suspects were arrested.

April 2

A cab driver waived down an officer to report a man that had broken out the cab’s back window. Police found the man at a gas station, where he was arrested.

April 1

A man returned to his vehicle parked at Axel’s River Grille to find the windows smashed out and items stolen.

March 31

A student at Henry Sibley was observed stealing a tool from the auto body shop. A teacher confronted the student who then ran off. The student was stopped near the entrance to the school, where the teacher was injured in a minor scuffle.

A driver was stopped on 35E for weaving and crossing over the fog line several times.  The driver failed field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test measured a blood alcohol level of .15. The driver had another DWI on record from last summer.

March 30

Two vehicles were rear-ended in an accident on Dodd Road. No one was injured.

A Henry Sibley student was cited for stealing cash from a teacher’s desk. The student admitted the crime and wrote a letter of apology.

March 29

Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Miriam Street.

A car rear-ended another car waiting to make a left turn at Lake Drive. One person was taken to the hospital.

March 28

A foot locker was reported stolen from the back of a pickup truck on the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue.

A cell phone and a Nintendo DSI were reported stolen from a student’s backback at Friendly Hills Middle School.
